Police investigate death of soldier found in his garage
Anchorage police are investigating the death of a soldier whose body was discovered Monday morning in the garage of his home, the Army said.
The soldier was not identified pending notification of next of kin. An Army spokesman said the soldier was an engineer assigned to the 23rd Engineering Co. of the 6th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, based at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson.
Police spokeswoman Marlene Lammers said the soldier's body was discovered at his home in the College Gate neighborhood of Anchorage about 7:30 a.m. after he failed to report for duty on base. She declined to describe the circumstances except to say that the homicide squad was not called to the scene and that foul play was not suspected.
The Army continues to investigate the death on post of an airborne soldier whose body was found in his family quarters Friday morning.
